My Reviews

"Chris delivered a great twenty-minute set at my Open Mic event at The Stage Door in Dartford in October 2024. His poetry stands in a unique place in that his verses offer little vignettes of every day occurrences, casual conversations , little slices of life in our high streets, pubs, and living rooms, yet done so in a manner that is succinct and sincere. His words easily bring a smile and a chuckle, but in a way that is warm and affectionate to the subject matter, without a hint of pretence or arrogance. Bravo sir."

I invited Chris to read some of his material at my Speakeasy venue at The Space in Margate, Kent, in early March 2024. He’d sent me a sample of his poetry but exceeded expectations by writing and delivering two new pieces about our town, one of which was about this venue that he’d attended for the first time a month or so before when he made a few friends on the night. We would welcome Chris back in the future whether to be on the end of a microphone again or otherwise.

Chris has been a regular attendee of The London Softwood Club (a long-established formal timber trade luncheon held four times per year) and approached me and the committee to ask if he could deliver a pre-dinner poem he would specially write about his career in the trade. We read a sample of his work and approved the idea. He delivered an entertaining piece appreciated by about 200 guests in early December 2023 at The Royal Horseguards Hotel. As the Timber Trades Journal later reported, it was the very first time a poem had featured since the Club commenced in the 1930s.
